We witnessed this incredible sunrise in late 2017 from Jonsrud Viewpoint. It was magical to say the least!

Winter storms bring in lots of amazing finds along the coast. During this December weekend, Nicole found so many shells and organisms that had remained on the beach after a high tide. This doesn’t happen very much at Seaside in Oregon, since it’s one of the most popular beaches along the Northern Oregon Coast.

The snow on the Noble Tree Forest up near Mt. St. Helens National Monument draws you in. There is just something about the geometric shapes of the branches and needles being covered with snow that just makes you want to park your car, stare, and enjoy a cup of coffee.

This photo has an even more nostalgic feel after the unfortunate fire in the Columbia River Gorge in the summer of 2017. Even though this waterfall is small, it definitely doesn't take away the intrigue of Eagle Creek cascading out through a basalt carving of its own creation.

Yet another shot from Mt. St. Helens National Monument. If you are patient enough for that shot that captures how beautiful the landscape is around you, it is well worth it! The area is covered in wild lupin, indian paintbrush, noble fir trees, and more.

If you have never been to Parkdale, Oregon you're missing out! If you take the fruit loop from Hood River Oregon you run right into this iconic spot!

On the same visit that we photographed Mt. Hood with the fog over the Sandy River with outstanding cotton candy sky, we also grabbed several photos of this Etherial Fog. We can't get enough of the feeling that this gives!

It might be hard to wake up early for a sunrise, but it's always worth it! Photo taken inside Mt. St. Helens National Monument, Washington.

Nicole has a very close connection to Mt. St. Helens, growing up about 30 miles from this exact spot. Her step dad's family ran Spirit Lake Lodge (not to be confused with Harry Truman's Mt. St. Helens Lodge), which was lost in the eruption. Her parents run a campground near the mountain (www.ecoparkresort.com).

We were lucky enough in 2017 to get out of the house in time to witness a bit of aurora from Crown Point Vista house just out of town!
Robb has been signed up for magnetic storm alerts through softservenews.com. It's a great resource whether you're a photographer or a sightseer looking to catch something neat. Fair warning, this far south, it does tend to be hard to see with a naked eye. This amount of light was captured with an extended exposure time.

Every year, we try and plan several camping trips in some of our favorite areas. The Gifford Pinchot National Forest is gorgeous. It feels more remote, but has so much to offer. This photo was an experiment by Nicole. The moon was rising, so we were in a hurry, but she still wanted to try an extended shutter, which resulted in some short start trails and a slightly brighter image.

Spring is such a beautiful time of year. After having lived through winter and its bare trees and rainy days, we find ourselves enjoying the introduction to color!

Sometimes there is that one photo that you take that just speaks to you.
A few years ago, on one of our many trips to the Oregon coast, we stopped at a spot we've never stopped before. Honestly we don't even know the name of this place. All we know was that there are rocks with starfish and anemones and some awesome reflection pools!

North Cascades National Park is one of the more scenic and untouched areas we have been to recently. It’s well-worth a drive and we would love to keep gem of an area safe from harm. Please respect all areas of the outdoors, wherever you might visit!

This close up of The Peter Iredale really shows how much of the shipwreck tends to get buried by the sand during the winter season. The ship ran aground on the Oregon coast in 1906, so the fact that there is this much of the ship left today is pretty impressive.

The Peter Iredale has an interesting story. Sand buries more of the shipwreck every winter storm season, and every spring and summer the shipwreck unveils itself again. The ship is a four-masted steel barque sailing vessel that ran ashore October 25, 1906. The location is just outside of Warrenton, Oregon.

There are only a few iconic waterfalls in the Columbia River Gorge. This one would be easily missed on the way to Punch Bowl Falls, but it is definitely worth stopping to snap a photo of. We’re so curious to see this area after the huge fire that tore through the gorge in 2017.

On the coasts of the United States there are many scenic areas that include these intriguing beacons of light. Near Ilwaco, Washington, this lighthouse and location is nothing short of beautiful!

This was one of my favorite viewpoints that I have seen Mt. Hood from. It was a beautiful spot, just barely off the beaten path. Take an adventure and find that spot that speaks to you!

Washington holds many treasures and this is definitely one. Please respect the area, since there is not much government budget for Forest Service to be in this area. We have often found trash and oddities. Please leave an area cleaner than you find it!

This mountain has a very special place in my heart (Nicole). I grew up at the closest residence to Mt. St. Helens post eruption and the entire area has a magical feeling. The deep meaning you can attach to regrowth of this world’s youngest landscape is soul-wrenching. If you haven’t had a chance to visit, please do!
